GDC RS Pura commemorates Dr BR Ambedkar's legacy with seminar

RS PURA, Nov 21: Government Degree College R. S. Pura, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a seminar today on the life and contributions of the iconic Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Themed "My Constitution, My Pride," the event was spearheaded by the Department of Political Science and NCC Boys Cadets.
The seminar, held under the patronship of Principal Dr. Rajni and supervised by Dr. Rakesh Choudhary, HOD, delved into the multifaceted life of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Attended by 50 enthusiastic students, the event aimed to shed light on the instrumental role played by Dr. Ambedkar in the framing of the Indian Constitution.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, Assistant Professor in Dogri at the college, served as the resource person for the seminar. Commencing with Dr. Ambedkar's image as an eminent lawyer, Dr. Mangoch emphasized the pivotal role he played as the chairman of the drafting committee for the Indian Constitution. The resource person underscored Dr. Ambedkar's commitment to establishing an egalitarian society through the incorporation of fundamental rights.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch went on to elaborate on Dr. Ambedkar's extensive contributions as a political and social reformer, particularly for the upliftment of vulnerable sections of society. Emphasizing the importance of education for empowerment, he shared Dr. Ambedkar's economic perspectives and unwavering dedication to working for the betterment of marginalized communities.
The seminar also served as a platform to raise awareness about the core values enshrined in the Constitution of India. Dr. Mangoch highlighted the significance of these values in fostering a just and inclusive society.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Prof. Jugal Kishore. The event was attended by esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Prof. Balwan Singh, Prof. Sankait Gupta, Dr. Rakesh Kalotra, and Nisha Bhagat, all of whom appreciated the insightful exploration of Dr. Ambedkar's life and ideals.
The seminar not only commemorated the legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar but also instilled a deeper understanding of constitutional values among the students, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for the foundational principles of the Indian Republic.
