Dr Andrabi awards winners of 3rd National Judo League at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: In a historic event at SK Indoor Sports Stadium in Srinagar, the 3rd Khelo India National Judo League for Northern Zone concluded with Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State, presiding as the Chief Guest. Teams from nine Northern States & UTs participated in the league, organized by the Sports Authority of India under the Khelo India initiative of the Union Ministry of Sports.
The Technical Director of the League, Deepak Gupta, along with Sushma Avasthi and Yogesh K of the Sports Authority of India, graced the occasion. Dr. Andrabi awarded the winners and runners-up teams and individual players in different categories with medals and certificates.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Dr. Darakhshan highlighted the transformative impact of Prime Minister Modi's Khelo India mission on the Indian sports sector. She emphasized that India is rapidly emerging as a global sports power, thanks to the initiatives of the central government over the past nine years. The young sports stars from across the country are now showcasing their talent on the global stage, contributing to India's rising status in various sporting events.
Dr. Darakhshan also noted the significant improvement in the sports infrastructure throughout the country, creating world-class facilities for athletes. She commended the LG Administration for their efforts in establishing remarkable sports infrastructure and fostering a conducive sports environment in Jammu & Kashmir over the past few years.
The Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board took the opportunity to dispel notions of unrest in the region, stating that the successful hosting of the Judo League after a gap of 42 years is a testament to the prevailing peace. Dr. Darakhshan urged against political myopia and emphasized that events like these showcase the reality of a peaceful Kashmir after the constitutional changes in 2019.
The 3rd Khelo India National Judo League not only celebrated sporting excellence but also marked a significant milestone for Jammu & Kashmir, demonstrating the positive impact of sports in fostering unity and development in the region.
