GDC concludes grand constitution day celebrations with pride

Kishtwar, Nov 26: The Government Degree College (GDC) Kishtwar successfully wrapped up its extensive Constitution Day celebrations with a spectacular closing ceremony themed ‘My Constitution, My Pride.’ Over the course of three weeks, from 6th to 26th November, the college organized 13 diverse activities, reflecting a commitment to constitutional education and civic awareness.
Under the guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Jyoti Parihar, the college executed a range of activities aligned with the Higher Education activity calendar. These included seminars, awareness campaigns, essay competitions, debates, and quizzes. These initiatives not only encouraged students to delve into the principles of the constitution but also instilled a sense of pride in the democratic heritage of the country.
The primary objectives of the events were to raise awareness about the constitution, fundamental duties, and rights. Moreover, the activities aimed at fostering understanding and awareness of crucial subjects such as Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO), Mental Health, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH), and environmental conservation laws.
The closing ceremony commenced with a recitation of the Preamble, symbolizing a collective reflection on the values enshrined in the Constitution. The event reached its zenith with a Prize Distribution ceremony, where deserving students were acknowledged for their active participation in the diverse range of activities organized during the celebration.
Throughout the celebration, the college invited resource persons with expertise in relevant fields. Prof. M.M. Mattoo (HOD Education, GDC Chattroo), Ms. Sanna Javeed (Psycho-Social Counsellor, One Stop Centre for Women - SAKHI, Kishtwar), Advocate Pooja Shan (District Court Kishtwar), Ms. Aruna Rani (Paralegal Personal Lawyer), and Ms. Kajal Parihar (Case Worker from Social Welfare Department) provided valuable insights, enriching the understanding of participants.
Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal of GDC Kishtwar, commended the organizing committee for their effective execution of all events. The closing ceremony was attended by esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Tarik Tamkeen, Prof. Swami Raj, Prof. Satish Kumar, Prof. Prithvi Raj, Dr. Sehrish Gazal, Prof. Sonika Sen, Prof. Asma Javeed, Prof. Akshay, along with the enthusiastic participation of 60 students.
GDC Kishtwar takes immense pride in organizing these comprehensive Constitution Day celebrations, emphasizing constitutional literacy, and empowering young minds to become responsible and informed citizens. The success of the event reflects the college’s commitment to fostering a deep understanding of constitutional values among its students.
