GDC inspires awareness through creative expression on World AIDS Day

JAMMU, Dec 1: In a vibrant celebration of World AIDS Day 2023, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC), Khour, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society (JKAS), organized an intra-college 'Poster Making Competition' under the theme "Let Communities Lead." The event, orchestrated by Prof. Dalip Kumar, the convener of the Red Ribbon Club, unfolded under the able guidance of T.K Sharma, the Principal of the college.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, showcasing their creative prowess and commitment to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. The theme "Let Communities Lead" resonated throughout the event, emphasizing the crucial role of communities in combatting the challenges posed by the virus.
Manat Bhau of semester fifth secured the coveted 1st position, followed by Needhi Kumari of semester fifth in the 2nd position, and Barsha Bhau of semester fifth securing the 3rd position. Varnika and Bhavna Sharma of Semester 1st were also recognized with a consolation prize for their commendable efforts.
The competition's entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Dr. Jozafeen Afzal, Dr. Seema Sudan, and Dr. Anjana Sharma. The judges provided valuable insights and feedback, contributing to the educational aspect of the event.
Expressing his appreciation, T.K Sharma, the Principal of the college, congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and creative contributions. He commended the Red Ribbon Club team, led by Prof. Dalip Kumar, for organizing an event that not only encouraged artistic expression but also fostered awareness about HIV/AIDS within the college community.
The 'Poster Making Competition' at GDC Khour proved to be a successful initiative, combining creativity with education to make a positive impact on World AIDS Day. The event concluded with a sense of achievement and reinforced commitment to spreading awareness and combating the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.
