Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 2: The Economic Offences Wing – Crime Branch Jammu (EOW-CBJ) has filed a comprehensive 253-page charge-sheet against three siblings in the Court of law for their alleged involvement in a Rs 43 lakh land fraud case. The case, registered under FIR No. 16/2019 U/S 420, 120-B/IPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu, accuses the individuals of hatching a criminal conspiracy and deceiving the complainant by revoking a sale deal for a 51 Marla piece of land at Birpur Bari Brahmana, Samba.
The accused individuals identified as Narayan Singh, Suram Singh, and Chain Singh, all sons of Dharam Singh and residents of Village Birpur, Tehsil Bari-Brahmana, District Samba, are alleged to have fraudulently canceled the General Power of Attorney after receiving a significant amount from the complainant.
The case originated from a written complaint by Mr. Manmohan Singh, residing in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The complainant alleged that the accused approached him with an offer to sell their land, claiming it was subject to acquisition.
The accused promised the complainant compensation exceeding the consideration amount if he paid Rs. 17 lakh to each accused. Special Power-of-Attorney and an agreement to sell were executed in December 2021, confirming the receipt of the consideration amount and the rights of the complainant.
The fraud was exposed when the accused, without the complainant's knowledge, informed the Collector Land Acquisition 220/33KV-PDD Jammu that they had canceled the Special Power-of-Attorney and directed the payment to be made only into their accounts.
A preliminary verification substantiated the allegations, leading to the registration of a formal case.
The investigation involved seizing relevant records, recording witness statements, and collecting scientific and circumstantial evidence. The charge-sheet has been filed under sections 420 and 120-B/IPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu, accusing the three individuals of deceiving the complainant with criminal intent and defrauding him of Rs 43 lakhs. The case will now proceed to judicial determination.
