Shiv Sena advocates safeguard measures alongside "One Nation One Constitution"
12/10/2023 10:11:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Dec 10: In a recent press conference at the party's central office in Jammu, Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit expressed its support for safeguard measures in conjunction with the "One Nation One Constitution" initiative.
The party conveyed its optimism for the inclusion of Leh-Ladakh back into Jammu and Kashmir, the restoration of statehood, and the reestablishment of democratic processes.
Manish Sahni, the state chief of Shiv Sena, addressed concerns over the anticipated decision of the Hon'ble High Court on Article 370. Emphasizing the need for the protection of cultural identity, employment opportunities for locals, and access to education and land, Sahni expressed hope for the reinstatement of statehood and the return of Leh-Ladakh to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni highlighted the party founder Bala Saheb Thackeray's vision of "One Nation One Constitution" for the country, underscoring the Shiv Sena's historical opposition to the separate constitution and symbol under Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the press conference, Sahni pointed out the disparities created by Article 370 and 35A, such as the deprivation of rights for daughters of Jammu and Kashmir after marriage to outsiders. Additionally, he mentioned concerns regarding democratic rights for the Balmiki community and West Pak migrants.
Stressing that Shiv Sena's advocacy extends beyond Article 370, Sahni affirmed the party's commitment to the rights of local people and the preservation of their cultural identity.
He expressed anticipation for the High Court's decision and hoped that "One Country One Constitution" would safeguard the cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir's residents, ensuring employment opportunities, educational access, and the restoration of reservation privileges.
Sahni concluded by expressing the aspiration that reinstating statehood would bring Leh-Ladakh back into Jammu and Kashmir, paving the way for the prompt restoration of the democratic process.
The press conference was attended by Vice President Sanjeev Kohli, President Kamgar Sena Raj Singh, and Rahul.
