JAMMU, Dec 18: In a bid to enhance the communication skills of students, Government Degree College, Kunjwani, organized a comprehensive Two-Day Workshop on "Soft and Writing Skills" from December 15 to December 16, 2023. Led by the Department of English, the workshop featured renowned speakers Dr. Reena Salaria, Dr. Farooq Ahmed from the Department of Linguistics at Cluster University Jammu, and Dr. Rashi Taggar from SMVDU, Kakrayal.
Dr. Reena Salaria and Dr. Farooq Ahmed shared valuable tips with students, focusing on improving their soft skills. The sessions included activities designed to enhance pronunciation and refine body language.
Dr. Rashi Taggar introduced the concept of SPARK, guiding attendees on creating memorable and impactful connections in diverse communication scenarios. The workshop emphasized fostering understanding and resonance with the audience.
The workshop delved into the fundamentals of email etiquette, stressing the importance of clarity, professionalism, and effective communication-essential skills for the modern workforce.
Students actively participated in meaningful and imaginative conversations through communication games, facilitated by engaging activities. This interactive approach aimed to make the learning experience both enjoyable and effective.
The workshop provided a platform for students to address queries, boosting their confidence in communication skills and preparing them to make a lasting impact in various scenarios.
Dr. Neeru Sharma expressed gratitude to the college Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, for his encouragement in hosting such workshops. The event marked a significant step towards equipping students with the necessary tools for effective communication.
The workshop aligns with the vision set forth by NEP2020 for the holistic development of students, emphasizing the importance of communication skills in their overall growth. Workshop was successfully coordinated by Prof. Pooja and Dr. Neeru Sharma, who ensured that students received a well-rounded learning experience.
