| KVK organises two day training programme on "Natural Farming" | | | Early Times Report
POONCH, Dec 19: In line with activities under the project "Out scaling of Natural Farming through KVKs" Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch working under the auspices of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted two days training programme from 18-19th December, 2023 on Natural Farming in which 40 farmers including men and women from different villages of Poonch participated. The programme was held as per the guidelines of the said project and under the able guidance of Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, of SKUAST-Jammu. The training was inaugurated by Sr. Scientist & Head, Dr. Ajay Gupta who welcomed the farmers in the training programme. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the ill effects of chemical fertilizers that have led to substantial adverse environmental impacts, soil degradation, eutrophication of land and water bodies, and biodiversity losses. He impressed upon the participating farmers to understand and adopt the Natural Farming formulations and practices for the betterment of ecosystem and sustainability of agriculture in the long run. Dr. Mushtaq Guroo, KVK Poonch gave detailed lectures on the concept and importance of Natural Farming and management of diseases (Roghnashi Astra) under Natural Farming. On day two, preparation and application of Jeevamrit and Beejamrit was demonstrated to the participating farmers and an in depth lecture on non-chemical management of insect pests through Agniastra, Bhramastra, Dashparni and Derekastra etc. was delivered by Dr. Ramandeep Kour, SRF KVK Poonch. The farmers thanked the KVK officials for inviting them for participation in this training programme and assured that they will follow the Natural Farming for the sustainability of agriculture in their own areas. The two days training programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Mushtaq Guroo. |
