JALANDHAR, Dec 19: Lovely Professional University (LPU) emerged victorious at the North Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (Women) Championship-2023, hosted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at LPU's Kho Kho Game Compound. The three-day event witnessed intense competition among 34 teams, culminating in LPU lifting the championship trophy.
LPU's standout performer, Neeta Devi, was honored as the Best Player of the Championship for her exceptional scoring prowess and overall contribution to the team's success. The Pro Chancellor of LPU, Mrs Rashmi Mittal, presented the championship trophy to the winning team and extended congratulations, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and the competitive spirit.
The women's Kho-Kho team from LPU showcased remarkable running and chasing skills throughout the tournament, outperforming strong contenders. Despite facing formidable opponents, LPU's players displayed exceptional teamwork and strategy to secure the winners' trophy.
MDU Rohtak claimed the title of the first runner-up, Punjab University secured the position of the second runner-up, and Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra secured the fourth position.
Kho-Kho, one of India's most popular traditional games, involves teams of 12 players, with 9 on the playing field and 3 in the defending team. The game is known for its high level of competition, and LPU's victory underscores their commitment to excellence in sports. |
