Govt Polytechnic Jammu organise road race

JAMMU, Dec 20: The Sports wing of Government Polytechnic Jammu conducted a "Road Race" for boys and girls of various engineering and non-engineering branches of the institute at MA Stadium Jammu, in which 40 students participated exhibiting their strength and endurance in 5 Km run for Boys and 2 km run for girls. In the first phase of the event, all the Departments conducted trials to select the athletes 3 boys, 2 girls from each branch. Principal Er. Arun Bangotra applauded all the participants during the prize distribution function for taking part in the competition. He said that sports and games is a medium to channelize the energy of the youth and transform it to play a positive role to develop India into a vibrant and energetic nation. He congratulated the students who made it to podium and also encouraged others to work hard next time to win the event. He also apprised the students, faculty and staff about the Viksit Bharat @2047, which is the vision of Government of India to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th years of its Independence
In the Boys 5 km run, Japneet Pal Singh of 5th Semester of Information Technology Department stood first place, second position won by Rakesh Kumar of 1st semester of Travel and Tourism Department and third position won by Akashdeep of 5th semester of Civil Engineering department.
In the girls 2 km category the race was won by Preety Kumari of 5th semester of Civil Eengineering department, second place won by Nancy of 3rd semester of Architecture department and third place won by Komal Bharti of 1st Semester of Travel and Tourism Department. The Sports Secretary, Amit Sharma thanked the chief guest Er Arun Bangotra and guest of honour Inderjeet Singh for sparing their valuable time to encourage the students. Others present on the occasion were Sukhdeep Singh HoD Civil Engineering Manjeet Singh HoD Electrical Engineering, Dheeraj Kumar Lecturer Travel and Tourism, Mohd Arshad Ranjha Lecturer, Manu Rajput Demonstator, Sajjad Hussain demonstrator, Rakesh Kumar, Chamel Singh, Toshi Devi and Talib Hussain Pharmacist.
