Dogri Manyata Diwas was celebrated in GDC Ramgarh

JAMMU, Dec 21: Government Degree College, Ramgarh celebrated Dogri Manyata Diwas on 21st December. On this occasion, a Dogri Symposium Cum Poetry Recitation event was organised in the college premises. The event was organised under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.
The function started with the lighting of a traditional lamp and was followed by a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College who in her address laid emphasis on the importance of mother tongue and its use in our day-to-day conversation. She appreciated the role of the invited Dogri poets in the propagation of the Dogri language in the region.
Prof. Braham Dutt, organising Secretary of the event and the Head of Dogri Department introduced the theme of the programme and threw light on the role which poets play in the awakening of society.
Dr. Snobar HOD Punjabi educated the students about the importance of Dogri Manayata Diwas and also informed them that on this day Dogri language was added in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution. She told the students about the benefits which the Dogra Community gained after the inclusion of the Dogri language in the 8th Schedule. She also recited a Dogri Poem in the Poetry Recitation event.
The event was graced by four famous Local Dogri poets namely Tara Chand Klandari, Satyapal Gudwalia, Keemat Raj, and Raj Kumar Dubey. The invited prominent poets recited their Dogri poems on different themes and issues related to daily life.
A large number of students of the college attended the Kavita Sammelan and some of them also recited Dogri poems. The faculty members who were present Dr. Bram Dutt, Dr. Snobar, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, Priya Sharma, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmed, Dr. Paramjeet Kour, Dr. Ekta Rani, Fayaz Ahmed, Sonali Dutta, Monika Kumari, Akansha, Ram Murti, and Sunil Kumar.
The event concluded by a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Brahm Dutt Sharma, HoD Dogri Department.
