KATHUA, Dec 21: The 2nd day of the 12th Police Martyr's Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Championship 2023-24 witnessed a tremendous turnout at the Sports Stadium Kathua. Two exhilarating matches took place on this day, adding to the excitement of the ongoing tournament.
The first match of the day unfolded in the morning session between Hill View Rajouri and Verma Club Sahnewal. Hill View Rajouri won the toss and elected to field first, limiting Verma Club Sahnewal to a total of 143 runs in 20 overs, losing 5 wickets. The standout performers were Vaibhav, scoring 37 runs, and Lara, contributing 29 runs. In response, Hill View Rajouri managed to score 133 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Sarthak's impressive knock of 63 runs was not enough as Verma Club Sahnewal secured victory by 10 runs. Dipin, with a remarkable bowling spell of 3 wickets for 22 runs and contributing 20 runs with the bat, was declared the Man of the Match.
The second match featured GSI Tigers Kashmir against Champions Chandigarh. GSI Tigers Kashmir won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a total of 122 runs in 17.5 overs. Samar's outstanding performance, scoring 57 runs, was the highlight. In pursuit of 123 runs, Champions Chandigarh fell short, getting all out at 116 runs in 19.5 overs. GSI Tigers Kashmir emerged victorious by 6 runs, and Samar was named the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting.
The enthusiastic crowd at the Sports Stadium Kathua enjoyed a day filled with intense cricketing action, setting the stage for further excitement in the upcoming matches of the tournament.
