Department of Dogri, GDC RS Pura commemorates "Dogri Manta Diwas"

RS PURA, Dec 22: 22 December 2003 is a major milestone for Dogri language because on that day Dogri was recognised as a National language of India in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian constitution which is a matter of pride for all Dogras.From that day it is celebrated as 'Dogri Manta Divas' every year.To commemorate the day Department of Dogri, Government Degree College (GDC) R. S. Pura organized a seminar on " Role of Mother Languages in achieving goal of Viksit Bharat". Under the banner of Viksit Bharat @2047 initiative.The objective of the event was to open new vistas for Dogri language as it is the part of culture, produced or created by cultural beings and entrusts new responsibilities upon the Dogras in development of Dogri as its study expands over knowledge of its makers and its processors, their creative processes and strategies, their material functions. Students of the college participated in the event with great zeal, enthusiasm and fervor. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, H. O. D Dogri said that," Mother-tongue education enables better understanding and transfer of the structure of language to several new languages, which flows down into the entire socioeconomic fabric. It also helps in other essential skills, such as critical thinking and literacy skills.By learning in their native language, students will be able to understand and appreciate their culture more effectively which help in promoting social cohesion and national unity and also play's a vital role in achieving India's gole of Viksit Bharat upto 2047.
The event was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Rajni Bhagat, Principal of the College. She highlighted the need for the promotion of Dogra language and culture in today's times and it is a matter of pride that Dogri language was included in the eighth schedule after a long period of struggle and now when it has received recognition it become our duty to take care of it and for this we have to pledge for taking this language forward by joining hands together.
