Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 22: Top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have been summoned to New Delhi for 2-day crucial meeting, which commenced on Friday.
Sources told Early Times the primary agenda of the meeting is to deliberate on a strategic plan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “Discussions will focus on BJP’s preparation for Assembly elections in J&K in accordance with the directives issued by the Supreme Court earlier this month.”
Pertinently, the Apex while upholding the decision of the Central Government to abrogate Article 370 earlier this month had directed for holding assembly elections in the Union Territory by September 2024.
In light of the SC directive the BJP leaders are discussing their preparations for the assembly polls. “Party leaders are trying to frame out a strategy to ensure that their cadres remain prepared as there is every possibil

ty about the assembly polls being held well before the deadline fixed by the Supreme Court. The party high command is also keen on taking the feedback about the performance of the leaders in J&K.”
Notably, the final decision on the timing of the elections rests with the Election Commission of India, the constitutional body responsible for conducting elections in the country.
Sources said that BJP cadres have assured the party leadership in J&K that they are ready for the polls. “There is every possibility about the saffron party doing well as the Kashmir based parties are in disarray and the infighting within the Congress will also help them.”
Among the prominent leaders who are attending the 2-day meeting in the National Capital are BJP J&K UT President, Ravinder Raina, and the Party's General Secretary (Org) for J&K, Ashok Kaul. Dr. Narinder Singh, the National Secretary of the Party and others.
