| Farmers attended training programme on Natural Farming at KVK | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch working under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J.) organized two days training programme on Natural Farming w.e.f. 21-22nd December, 2023 as a part of the Project "Out scaling of Natural Farming through KVKs" in which a large numbers of farmers including men and women participated. The training was inaugurated by Sr. Scientist & Head, Dr. Ajay Gupta who greeted the farmers in the training programme. The purpose of training was to encourage and emphasize upon the farming community to understand and use the Natural Farming formulations for enhancing the growth of beneficial microbes in the soil and restoring the soil fertility with objective of agricultural sustainability. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ajay Gupta illustrated the components of Natural forming and deliberated on the potential and perceived impact of Natural Farming in district Poonch. In last five decades or so, how intensive use of chemical fertilizers have brought about the death of beneficial microbes and affected the physical, Chemical and biological properties of soil, he explained. Dr. Mushtaq Guroo of KVK Poonch, gave the detailed lectures on the Concept of Natural Farming and its importance and management of diseases in crops through use of Natural Farming formulations. Dr. Ramandeep Kour, SRF KVK Poonch during her talk explained on how insect pests can be managed by farmers with natural products or concoctions prepared easily by them from local resources at almost negligible or very less cost. Demonstration on preparation and application of Natural Farming formulations like Jeevamrit and Beejamrit was also carried out during two days training programme. Dr. Mushtaq Guroo thanked the farmers and ensured them that KVK officials are always ready to help the farming community. |
