SRINAGAR, Dec 22: The Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association (NZIEA), representing LIC employees in the Northern Zone, celebrated its 68th Foundation Day with zeal and enthusiasm. The Srinagar Division of NZIEA, under the leadership of Comrade Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary, marked the occasion by hoisting the Association's flag. Comrade Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Vice President of the Association, had the honor of raising the flag on this momentous day.
NZIEA observed its 68th Foundation Day on December 22, 2023, marking the day the association was formed in 1956. Comrade Pawan Gupta emphasized the significance of this day in the history of the Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association.
In his address, Com. Pawan Gupta highlighted the association's role in protecting LIC through various struggles. He noted the successful fights against challenges such as fatal automation, lockouts, government attempts to split LICI, bonus cases, and issues related to job security. The association has been a constant advocate for pension rights and has been fighting against the government's neoliberal policies for over three decades.
Com. Pawan Gupta stressed the need for broader unity among the working class to combat government policies that adversely affect the people, farmers, workers, and youth. He acknowledged the sacrifices of previous leaders that paved the way for LIC employees to secure their due rights.
Other leaders who spoke at the event included Rajesh Gupta and Raj Kumar Sharma (Joint Secretaries), Com. Rajesh Kumar (Treasurer), Com. Raj Kumar (Office Secretary), and representatives from the Women's sub-committee - Com. Priya Sharma, Shunali Gupta, Neeraj Bhagat, among others.
The celebration extended across different divisions, with events organized in Jammu-2, Kathua, Samba, R.S. Pura, Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda, Poonch, and Kathua. Each division had its leaders spearheading the celebrations, demonstrating the widespread participation and commitment to the association's cause.
The 68th Foundation Day of NZIEA served as a moment of reflection on past victories and a renewed commitment to continue the fight against policies that threaten the interests of LIC employees.
