Centre committed to welfare, prosperity of J&K's people: Kavinder

JAMMU, Dec 29: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, has asserted that the Government at the Centre is paying focussed attention to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to ensure welfare and prosperity of the people of this traumatized region, who had to bear the brunt of terrorism for the past about three decades.
He expressed this while addressing a gathering during a programme organized here today to kick-start development work at Ward No 47 in Jammu today with an estimated cost of Rs 44 lakhs. Corporator Sharda Kumari was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Kavinder said that the Union Government is paying focussed attention to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and is determined to carry out developmental activities in every nook and corner of this sensitive region.
He said that Modi led Govt at the Centre has prioritized the overall development of all the areas without any rural-urban or other discrimination with main focus on roads which ensure the smooth supply of basic essentials as well as other commodities for the ease of living of the people. He said that the government stands fully committed to ensure the improvement of road infrastructure in all the areas.
Meanwhile, the former Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with the people and took stock of their problems and issues on the occasion. After giving them a patient hearing, he assured to get their grievances addressed at the earliest by taking up the matter with the concerned authorities.
Among others who were present include Vivek Patyal, Dalbir Singh, Dr Davinder, Suraj Rana, Krishan Chander, Ajay Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Anil Kumar and Ajit Kumar.
