Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 5: In a proactive step towards effective implementation of the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) & Miscellaneous Provisions (MP) Act, 1952 in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has joined forces with Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL). The focus of the collaboration is to address concerns related to accidental deaths among employees working on ongoing power projects.
The matter was brought to the attention of Chairman NHPC, Rajiv Vishnoi, who facilitated a meeting between EPFO officials and Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL). Ramesh Mukhiya, Managing Director of CVPPL, along with Manoj Verma, GM, HR, and Sumit Kumar Puri, GM (Civil), met with PF Commissioner, Rizwan Uddin, to discuss enhancing awareness and compliance with the EPF and MP Act, 1952.
It was decided that CVPPL would review the compliance of all contractors engaged directly or as sub-contractors in various power projects being executed by CVPPL in Jammu & Kashmir. Shri Saroj Kumar Sethi was designated as the Nodal Officer to ensure proper compliance of all contractors.
EPFO committed to facilitating the collaboration through awareness programs and handholding sessions. An event called Nidhi Apke Nikat 2.0 (NAN 2.0) will be organized in Kishtwar in association with CVPPL to further disseminate information about EPFO schemes.
The meeting emphasized not only enforcing regulations but also fostering a culture of understanding and cooperation among employers and workers. Strict compliance by defaulters, contractors, and sub-contractors engaged through CVPPL was stressed.
The collaboration envisions proactive engagement through workshops, seminars, and informational sessions. Experts in EPF and MP Act will be engaged to provide valuable insights, address queries, and guide stakeholders for effective implementation.
CVPPL has requested EPFO to provide publicity materials for advertising and creating awareness about EPFO schemes at their project sites.
The Project Manager from M/s Patel Engineering was directed to provide details of remittances of all contractors engaged in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
