Drug peddler apprehended, cannabis-like substance seized by Kishtwar police

KISHTWAR, Jan 11: In a significant breakthrough, Kishtwar Police executed Operation "Sanjeevani," resulting in the arrest of a notorious drug peddler and the confiscation of a cannabis-like substance. Acting on the guidance of SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal-JKPS, a dedicated team, led by SHO PS Kishtwar, Insp. Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, established a checkpoint at the Panditgam area.
During thorough vehicle and pedestrian checks, the police intercepted a vehicle with registration No. JK17A-5611. A subsequent search uncovered a significant quantity of a cannabis-like substance in the possession of the driver, leading to his immediate arrest. The individual identified himself as Imran Ahmed Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh, residing in Bandrena, Kishtwar. In connection with this operation, a case FIR No. 13/2024 under Sec. 8/20/25 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Kishtwar, and an intensive investigation is underway to dismantle any potential network associated with this illicit trade.
