Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 11: Jammu Kashmir Teachers' Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) led a delegation meeting with Administrative Secretary School Education, Dr. Piyush Singla IAS, at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on January 11, 2024. The meeting, spearheaded by UT President Vinod Sharma and UT Chairman Saleem Sagar, focused on addressing pressing issues within the teaching community.
Key concerns raised by the delegation include:
Comprehensive Transfer Policy for ReT Scheme Teachers: JKTJAC emphasized the need for a comprehensive transfer policy to benefit teachers appointed under the ReT scheme, who have been serving in the same schools for over two decades.
Attendance of Designated Officer at Divisional Level Committee Meetings: The delegation requested the deputation of a designated officer from the Administrative Department to attend Divisional Level Committee Meetings at DSEJ for the timely approval of files related to the conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III and subsequent release of their salaries.
Filling Up Vacant Posts of ZEOs/Headmasters: JKTJAC highlighted the urgent requirement to fill up vacant positions of ZEOs (Zone Education Officers) and Headmasters in zones and schools across the UT that currently lack leadership.
Inter-District Mutual Transfer List for Teachers Grade II/III: The committee called for the issuance of an inter-district mutual transfer list for teachers in Grade II/III.
Permission for Higher Studies for Teachers/Masters: JKTJAC stressed the need for the prompt issuance of orders permitting teachers and masters to pursue higher studies.
During the meeting, Administrative Secretary Dr. Piyush Singla gave a patient hearing to the delegation, assuring them that the raised issues would be thoroughly examined for early redressal. The delegation included prominent figures such as Reyaz-ur Rehman (Senior Vice Chairman), Rajesh Jamwal (Provincial President Jammu), Sham Sharma (Chief Advisor), Sukesh Khajuria (Chief Press and Media Secretary), Lekh Raj Parihar (DP Udhampur), Ravinder Manhas (DP Jammu), Khazan Singh (UT Coordinator), and other key members.
The Secretary School Education pledged to review the concerns presented by JKTJAC and work towards finding effective solutions.
