1/14/2024 12:54:17 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 13: Notwithstanding the stand taken by the J&K Congress leadership to claim the Lion’s Share in the Parliamentary seats in the Union Territory, the party’s high command appears to be ready to surrender before the National Conference.
Instead of staking claims on maximum Lok Seats in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, the Congress high command has directed local leadership to take the National Conference on the board before making any statement on seat sharing in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Highly placed sources said that the Congress central leadership is not ready to take any tough stand as the high command is ready to support the National Conference on all the three Lok Sabha seats of the Kashmir Valley.
Sources said that the high command is also not taking a tough stand on Ladakh Lok Sabha where the party has base
Take NC on board before making any statement on seat sharing
Cong central leadership not ready to take any tough stand
Some central leaders ready to contest only on 2 Lok Sabha seats
n both Kargil and Leh districts. Instead of taking a tough stand to stake claims on at-latest four Lok Sabha seats, some central leaders are ready to contest only two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province. Sources said that during a meeting which was held at Delhi under the leadership of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress central leadership dropped hints against taking a tough stand on seat sharing.
As reported earlier by this newspaper apart from Jammu-Reasi and Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seats J&K Congress leaders have decided to stake claim on Ladakh and Anantnag seats.
In the recently held elections of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil Congress emerged as a strong force. Similarly, Congress is also a strong force in Leh as compared to the National Conference and the PDP so Congress has a strong claim on the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat.
