JU to hold 'Protsaahan' under UTSAAH-ten days multi-arts festival from today

JAMMU, Jan 15: UTSAAH, Club Consortium of the University of Jammu is organising 'Protsaahan'- A Ten-day Multi-Arts festival from 16th of January, 2024, in which 12 prominent clubs under different coordinators shall be organising their activities for the various stakeholders of the University and civil society.
In a statement issued by the University of Jammu, the consortium of 12 clubs, including Translation Club, Photography Club, Nature and Wildlife Club, Literary Club, Heritage and Tourism Club, Film Club, Theatre Club, Music Club, Painting Club, Dance Club, Science Club and Community Service and Social Justice Club shall be presenting the culture, heritage and literature of Jammu province under the banner of UTSAAH.
"The inauguration of Protsaahan shall take place with the opening of a five-day art camp by Painting Club and a Blood Donation camp by Community Service and Social Justice Club," the statement reads, adding that senior functionaries from different government departments shall grace the occasion. During the Blood donation camp over 75 units of blood is expected to be collected, whereas on the next working day, 18th January Community service and social justice club shall also organize a session on Drug De-addiction.
Meanwhile, on 17th of January the photography club shall be conducting 'Heritage and Street Photography Event: A journey through time', wherein participants shall be divided into different groups to capture heritage sites of Jammu city, during different time periods.
Similarly, on 19th and 22nd of January, Film Club is organising two days workshop on techniques on film making, whereas Translation club shall be organizing a symposium of poetry in the major languages of Jammu and its translation and discussions of the same with the popular poets on 19th of January.
"Nature and wildlife club is organising two days wildlife and bird photography workshop in association with Nikon India on 20th January, whereas Science club is also organising two days workshop on beginning on 22nd January," reads the press statement. Music and Literary club shall organize a function on folk literature and folk songs on 23rd of January.
A grand finale of the festival shall be held on 24th of January, wherein Heritage and Tourism club shall organize Dogra Turban Tying Competition and a street shall be prepared to showcase the food and handicraft of Jammu province. Programmes by Theatre, Film and Dance clubs shall be showcased and the paintings and photographs made during the workshop shall also be exhibited during the finale.
Appreciating the efforts of all the coordinators in each club in providing all the students, staff, non teaching, non gazetted, faculty and alumni a platform to hone their passions and to showcase them in a span of just one year, the Chairperson of the Club Prof Satnam Kaur said, "It was a visionary initiative of the Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai and it has been extremely successful in realizing the spirit of NEP in an holistic manner." She also appreciated the constructive role of media in supporting the clubs and providing widespread coverage to ensure the inclusion of civil society in all these activities.
