KATHUA, Jan 15: In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, Kathua police apprehended a suspect with a stash of contraband cough syrup. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from PP Hatli, led by the IC PP Hatli and supervised by DySP Headquarters Kathua and SHO PS Kathua, conducted a special operation resulting in the arrest of one individual.
The suspect, identified as Karan Singh, resident of Ward No. 03 Dhanna Lakhanpur Tehsil & District Kathua, was intercepted while moving from Hatli Morh towards Barmora Link Road Sabzi Mandi on foot. Singh was allegedly involved in smuggling Wincerex Cough Syrup, containing Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride.
During a thorough inspection, the police recovered 22 bottles of Wincerex (Codeine Phosphate & Triprolidine Hydrochloride Syrup), each bottle measuring 100 ml. The confiscated contraband was seized on the spot.
A case has been registered against Karan Singh under FIR No. 17/2024 U/S 08/21/22/NDPS Act at PS Kathua. The police have initiated further investigations into the matter, emphasizing their commitment to combating the menace of drug trafficking within the district.
