Police conducts crackdown on bovine smuggling in Reasi

REASI, Jan 20: In a determined effort to curb the rampant issue of bovine smuggling, the Reasi District Police have made significant strides with the recent apprehension of three smuggling gangs. The operations led to the arrest of three individuals and the rescue of 31 bovine animals that were being transported illegally. The Superintendent of Police, Sh. Amit Gupta - JKPS, lauded the efforts of the police teams involved, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring peace and tranquility in the region.
Police Post Bhambla Operation:
A surprise checkpoint near Bhambla led to the interception of a Tata Mobile (Registration No. JK02BK-0804).
Two individuals, identified as Mohd Junaid and Mohd Latief, residents of Prat, Tehsil Sunderbani, District Rajouri, were arrested.
Eight bovine animals were rescued from their possession.
A case FIR No. 06/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 (1) (a) PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Pouni, with investigations underway.
Police Post Dera Baba Operation:
A surprise checkpoint at Chappanoo resulted in the interception of a vehicle Camper without a registration number.
Thirteen bovine animals were rescued, but the driver abandoned the camper and fled in the darkness.
A case FIR No. 14/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi, with investigations initiated.
Police Post Kakryal Operation:
A surprise checkpoint at Moori, Katra Area led to the interception of a truck (Registration No. JK14H-5649).
Ten bovine animals were rescued, and the driver abandoned the truck, fleeing in the darkness.
A case FIR No. 20/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, with investigations underway.
