Early Times Report

KATHUA, Jan 20: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, led a dedicated team of officers on the second day of the two day extensive tour to the far-off areas of Sub-Division Bani. The team spent a night at the remote block of Dhaggar, aiming to gain a firsthand understanding of the challenges and demands of the local populace.
During the whirlwind tour of the twin blocks, Deputy Commissioner Minhas laid the foundation stone for a significant link road project from Chaloge-Dhmaan Road to Hansa-Bhullari Road at Duggan. It is a vital initiative being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) with funding from NABARD. The road is anticipated to provide direct access to Lowang, streamlining travel for locals and eliminating the need for a longer route via Bani headquarters.
Inspecting the ongoing construction of the BDO office building at Duggan, Dr. Rakesh Minhas emphasized the importance of completing the project before March 31, 2024. This development is poised to enhance administrative efficiency in the region.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Duggan, directing the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kathua to submit a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for pending works. The revised DPR will play a pivotal role in securing the necessary funding for healthcare infrastructure in the upcoming capital expenditure budget.
In a bid to engage with the local community, Deputy Commissioner Minhas inaugurated a cricket tournament at Dhaggar, providing an opportunity to interact with the local youngsters. He encouraged the youth to seize opportunities offered by the administration and explore avenues in the burgeoning tourism industry.
Dr. Rakesh Minhas, while appreciating the region’s young talent, urged them to harness their potential for personal and community growth. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of collaboration between the administration and the local populace for fast paced development.
ADC Kathua Ranjeet Singh, CPO Kathua Ranjit Thakur, CMO Kathua Dr Vijay Raina and other officers were also present.
