Police register FIR, arrest one accused, another absconding

Jammu, Jan 22: In a shocking incident, Riyaz Ahmed, a driver by profession was allegedly brutally beaten by his former employers here.
A video of Ahmed being beaten by a few people has gone viral on social media. The video shows that a man is repeatedly assaulted by a person and the victim is seen begging for mercy.
Early Times contacted the victim over phone to ascertain why he was being beaten and who were the attackers.
Talking to Early Times Riyaz alleged that his former employers didn’t pay him his salary and alleged that they were involved in “bovine smuggling.”
According to Ahmed, he had left his former employers four years ago and during this time, he claimed that he was not paid for 1.5 months of work.
Ahmed said, “I was caught by my former employers and they dumped me in a Scorpio. First they beat me up at Kunjwani and then again in Narwal with hockey sticks and fan belts of the vehicles.”
He said, “I sustained severe injuries during the attack. They have fractured my arm.”

Expressing fear for his life, Ahmed revealed that he was threatened with dire consequences if he spoke up about the incidents.
Despite the threats, he decided to break his silence, seeking justice for the brutal attacks he endured and demanding accountability for the alleged illegal activities of his former employers. “I was threatened that I would be killed if I opened my mouth. They wanted me to work for them again. I told them that I don’t want to be a part of their dirty business as I have a family to feed,” he said, adding, “I hope administration will do justice with me and the accused will be punished. I don’t want anyone to face what I have faced,” he added.
Meanwhile, Police have registered a FIR No. 18 under sections 342, 323 IPC at Police Station Bahu. One accused Nazratullah son of Sakhi Mohammad resident of Rajal Nowshera has been arrested, while the another accused Raman alias Ashu resident of R S Pura is absconding.
