Training on Quality Control, Value Addition & Marketing of Milk Products begins at SKUAST

JAMMU, Jan 29: Under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) B. N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu and Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Soodan, Dean, Faculty of Dairy Technology of SKUAST-Jammu, a four-day awareness cum training programme on quality control, value addition and marketing of milk products is being organized under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) from 29th January to 1st February 2024 at R. S. Pura campus of SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. Sunil Kumar, Head of the Division of Dairy Technology and the Coordinator of this training programme emphasized on the importance of value addition, milk processing, brand development, and modernization of machinery and technological interventions to keep up with the modern era. He gave special thanks to his team of Co-coordinators [Dr. Arvind Kumar (Division of LPT), Dr. Z. F. Bhat (Division of LPT), Dr. Pranav Kumar (Division of VAHEE), Dr. Sabahu Noor (Division of DC), Dr. Jasleen Kaur (Division of DM), Dr. Mehnaza Manzoor (Division of DM) and Dr. Amita Salaria (Division of DT)]. The aim for organizing this awareness cum training programme is that it will help in the overall development and capacity building of the women engaged in the dairy sector in the border area of Suchetgarh in R. S. Pura of Jammu. This four-day training programme will include lectures from experts in the fields of dairy technology, animal nutrition, and entrepreneurship and marketing. The participants will be engaged in different hands-on training sessions on the development of dairy products on scientific lines of production, packaging, quality evaluation and marketing. The focus will be on adding value to the products of local importance such as paneer, khoa, cheese, kalakand, shrikhand, and kalari, highlighting the importance of principles of hygiene, novel processing and packaging systems.
