GDC Kathua organizes Interdisciplinary lecture

KATHUA, Jan 31: GDC Kathua is taking proactive steps to enhance the knowledge of its students through a series of interdisciplinary lectures. As part of this initiative, the Department of Education organized a lecture today on the theme - "History of Education." The program aimed to provide insights into the historical evolution of the education system, spanning from ancient times to the post-independence period, including the New Education Policy.
The event commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Ram Singh, Head of the Department of Education. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Manmohan Singh, Head of the Department of History at GDC Kathua. In his engaging lecture, Prof. Singh shed light on the evolution of the educational tradition, highlighting changes in the system over time. He emphasized the contributions of Vedic people, medieval rulers, Britishers, and post-independence governments in shaping the educational landscape.
Prof. Singh apprised the students about the efforts made to widen the scope and improve the quality and accessibility of education in Indian society. He urged students to utilize their knowledge for societal and national development, encouraging them to share their knowledge and promote the ethos of "each one teach one."
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Sheearaj Ahmed. Approximately 110 students attended the lecture, which was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof. Seema Mir and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Education at GDC Kathua.
