GDC Khour launches 7-day Winter Special Camp with NSS Unit

KHOUR, Feb 21: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Khour commenced its 7-day Winter Special Camp from February 21st to February 29th, 2024, with a fervent inauguration ceremony led by the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) T.K Sharma. The event kicked off with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the enlightenment and unity of purpose.
Prof. Himanshu Khajuria, NSS Program Officer, outlined the comprehensive schedule of activities planned for the camp, setting the stage for an enriching experience ahead. An orientation program was conducted for the newly registered NSS volunteers, providing them with insights into the organization's ethos and objectives. Senior volunteers shared their experiences and enthusiasm, underscoring the spirit of community service embodied by NSS.
Addressing the gathering, the College Principal emphasized the NSS motto, "Not Me But You," urging students to embrace leadership and responsibility in serving the community selflessly. Dr. Tasleem, Convener of the NSS Advisory Committee, sensitized volunteers about the importance of personal and environmental hygiene, underscoring the role of cleanliness in fostering a healthy society.
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks extended by Dr. Chetan Sharma, expressing gratitude to all participants for their dedication and commitment. Following the inaugural ceremony, approximately 50 NSS volunteers actively engaged in a cleanliness drive across the college campus, ensuring proper waste segregation and enhancing the cleanliness quotient of various areas. Prof. Shivani Sharma, NCC Associate Navel Officer, graced the event with her presence.
The College Principal commended the efforts of the NSS Program Officer and volunteers, highlighting their dedication to community welfare. The launch of the Winter Special Camp underscores GDC Khour's commitment to fostering a spirit of social responsibility and collective action among its students, preparing them to be proactive agents of positive change in society.
