2/21/2024 10:19:41 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 21: Infuriated over the startling disclosure of Ghulam Nabi Azad regarding National Conference leadership’s attempt to develop relations with the BJP-led government at the Centre, former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah has launched a blistering attack on former Congress stalwart.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah strongly rebuked Ghulam Nabi Azad for what he termed as an “absurd” statement.
Reacting to Azad’s claim about the Abdullahs seeking clandestine meetings with central leaders, Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed dismay, saying, “I never anticipated such a reckless and baseless remark from someone of Ghulam Nabi Azad’s caliber.”.
Dr. Abdullah went on to criticize Azad for descending to a level unbecoming of a seasoned politician by making such unfounded accusations. The friction intensified after Azadss recent political venture met with failure, leaving him evidently disheartened.
In Dr. Abdullah's view, Azad’s political setback
I never anticipated such baseless remarks from someone of Azad’s caliber.
Azad’s political setbacks have exposed him to public scrutiny, diminishing his credibility.
Someone who betrayed the Congress could hardly be trusted by anyone.
It was Sonia Gandhi who appointed Azad as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
have exposed him to public scrutiny, diminishing his credibility among the masses. Notably, Ghulam Nabi Azad, a former Congress stalwart and erstwhile Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, formed his own political outfit on September 26, 2022, after severing a five-decade-long association with the Congress Party on August 26, 2022.
Dr. Abdullah did not mince his words in his critique of Azad, asserting that someone who betrayed the Congress could hardly be trusted by anyone. Despite being entrusted with significant roles and responsibilities by the Congress, including ministerial positions and party leadership, Azad’s disloyalty remained apparent. Dr. Abdullah recalled Azad’s involvement with the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s inner circle and underscored that it was Sonia Gandhi who appointed him as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
Dr. Abdullah recalled Azad’s association with the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s “Kitchen Cabinet’.
