RS PURA, Feb 21: In a bid to foster consumer awareness and empower students with essential knowledge, the Consumer Advocacy Group, registered with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), joined hands with the Department of Economics and Career Counselling and Placement Cell to organize a workshop on Consumer Education. Held on February 21st, 2024, at Govt. Degree College R.S Pura, the event aimed to enlighten students about consumer-friendly measures and complaint redressal frameworks within the telecom industry.
Ashok Kumar, General Secretary of Help Age Society, delivered an insightful lecture titled "Consumer Awareness in Telecom Industry." He elaborated on the various consumer-friendly measures and highlighted the complaint redressal framework adopted by TRAI. Emphasizing the importance of such knowledge, Dr. Rajni Bhagat, Principal of Govt. She expressed confidence that this awareness would position India as a frontrunner in the emerging global information society.
During the interactive session, students had the opportunity to raise queries, which were addressed comprehensively, enhancing their understanding of consumer rights and protections. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Shelly Kalsi, setting a tone of engagement and receptiveness for the workshop. Dr. Shivani Manchanda extended formal gratitude to all attendees in her vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable insights shared by Ashok Kumar and the presence of other dignitaries, including Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Convenor IQAC, and Prof. Meeshu Pandita.
