Notorious drug peddler apprehended in Akhnoor, sent to District Jail

AKHNOOR, Mar 2: In a significant breakthrough, the Akhnoor Police successfully apprehended a notorious criminal and drug peddler, identified as Vivek Kumar, alias Sunny, son of Satish Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 08, Akhnoor, Jammu. Kumar, who had been evading arrest for the past month, was wanted in several cases related to drug peddling.
Acting on a credible tip-off, a dedicated police team led by SHO Mohd Tariq, under the supervision of SDPO Mohan Sharma, conducted a raid and apprehended the accused. The arrest was made pursuant to a warrant issued under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Vivek Kumar has a history of criminal activities, including multiple cases under the NDPS Act and other offenses. Notably, he is involved in FIR No. 256/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Akhnoor, FIR No. 09/2023 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act of PS Domana, FIR No. 324/2023 under Section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act of PS Akhnoor, FIR No. 205/2013 under Section 341/323/34 RPC of PS Akhnoor, and FIR No. 172/2016 under Section 48(f) of Police Station Akhnoor.
Following the execution of the warrant, Vivek Kumar has been remanded to District Jail Kathua. The Jammu police, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the region and urge the public to provide any information about individuals involved in such nefarious activities.
