GDC Udhampur witnesses live streaming of semiconductor programme by Prime Minister

UDHAMPUR, Mar 13: Government Degree College Udhampur witnessed the live telecast of the foundation stone ceremony for three semiconductor facilities by Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh. Narinder Modi. These facilities include India's First Fab. facility in Dholera, Gujarat, OSAJ facility in Sanand, Gujarat, and OSAT facility in Morigaon, Assam. A large number of students applauded as the Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for these facilities.
The programme began at 9:30 am under the guidance of Prof. (Dr). Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College, who congratulated the students on witnessing the historic event. He stressed the importance of science and technology in the progress and prosperity of the nation and encouraged students to nurture their talent to achieve India's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics, organized semiconductor-related activities before and after the foundation stone ceremony. Prof. Rakesh Singh and Dr. Jang Bahadur conducted sessions on the role of semiconductors in the present era and the scope of the semiconductor industry in India, respectively. They highlighted the significance of the projects in fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision and ensuring India's self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing.
Faculty members including Prof. Babu Lal Thakur, Prof. Mohinder Pal, Dr. Sukhchain Sharma, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Dr. Sumati Anthal, Prof. Sahil Shashi Sharma, along with other staff members, attended the event. Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, HoD Physics, proposed the vote of thanks to the Principal, resource persons, faculty members, and students."
