Doda police held husband -wife with heroin, huge cash

Doda, Mar 18: Continuing its war to tighten the noose of drug peddlers, Doda Police has arrested a couple from Doda town with heroin and huge amount of cash from their possession.
While giving details, Police said that based on a specific information received through reliable sources that one person namely Junaid Qayoom son of Abdul Qayoom and his wife namely Shafia Tabussum R/o near New Bus Stand Doda are renowned drug peddlers and use to sell drugs and getting youths of Doda area involved in drugs addiction .
Soon after the receipt of this information, Police swung into action and a team led by PSI Roshan Lal of PS Doda was constituted to apprehend the drug peddlers. The team after hectic efforts succeeded in arresting both husband and wife and recovered heroin alongwith cash amounting Rs, 45,460/- and other articles from their possession.
In this connection case FIR No. 51/2024 under relevant provision of NDPS Act was registered and investigation of the case set into motion. The forward /backward links are being ascertained during investigation from the accused persons to reach the dead end of this back trade which is eating vitals of younger generation and spoiling the society.
The whole operation was carried out by Doda Police under supervision of Inspector Padam Dev Singh SHO PS Doda, Shri Ajay Anand Dy.SP Hqrs Doda and under the overall supervision of Shri Javaid Iqbal SSP Doda.
Doda Police appeals the general public to cooperate with Police and provide inputs if any drug peddling or any drug addiction is noticed in their neighborhood so that main suppliers, renowned drug peddlers are booked.
