GDC, Samba wins first prize in best practices at Goonj-2024

SAMBA, Mar 22: SPPND Government Degree College, Samba has achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the first prize in Best Practices Event under the College Category at Goonj - 2024, a Mega Youth Festival organised by the University of Jammu. The college presented its three best practices among others. The first best practice i.e. Skill India: Koshal Bharat, Kushal Bharat highlighted the innovative initiatives taken by college i.e. training of students in Bamboo Handicrafts and Calico Printing. The said initiatives aimed to promote local art and strengthen employability skills in students. The second best practice, Veerta ki Anmol Dhaara: Shaheedon ko Naman, highlighted the initiative wherein 18 families of war martyrs from Samba tehsil were honoured by dedicating a Veeron Ki Vatika in the college premises. The event aimed at paying a respectful homage to those brave hearts who sacrificed their lives in the service of motherland during various gun battles. The third best practice, Atithi Devo Bhava: Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, a spectacular initiative by the institution wherein the college housed Amarnath Pilgrims for a week. Students and staff of the college offered warm hospitality and ensured a comfortable stay to them. As a best practice, the college endeavors to enthuse, engage and empower our fellow men and women towards building a united and inclusive community and serving mankind
During the competition, the college was allocated a display stall to showcase their best practices in the initial round which was further shortlisted for a power point presentation and finally emerged as the winner. Furthermore, the College demonstrated its versatility and talent by participating in various competitions including Skit, Group Dance, Rangoli and Elocution. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri applauded the hard work and dedication exhibited by the entire team.
