Special Judge Bala Jyoti sends Patwari, chowkidar to 13 day judicial remand

Jammu, Mar 27: Special Judge Anti Corruption and (CBI) cases, Bala Jyoti on Wednesday sent a Patwari and a chowkidar to 13-day judicial custody. The duo was arrested on Tuesday on bribery charges.
Accused Varun Choudhary posted as Patwari Samba and another accused Dayal Chand were produced before the Special Judge Anti Corruption (CBI) cases by the Investigating Officer Parshant Sharma, Dy. SP/CBI/ACB/SGR Camp Jammu.
The Investigating Officer prayed for judicial remand of accused for 14 days.
Special Judge, Bala Jyoti observed that the accused were arrested on 26/03/2024 in case FIR No. RC004202440002 for offence under section 7 of P.C. Act 1986 (as amended in 2018) as per the Medical certificate, accused were medically examined and found physically fit.
Moreover accused did not complain about any physical discomfort or any mental illness.
They were apprised of grounds of arrest by the Investigating Officer.
The court further observed: “Investigation of the case is at its infancy, statements of material witnesses are yet to be recorded by the IO besides accused are involved in a serious offence. They are remanded to judicial custody for a period of 13 days only.”

The CBI on Tuesday had arrested a Patwari, Varun Choudhary and his aide, Chowkidar, Dayal Chand.

Pertinently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on on Tuesday had arrested a Patwari, Varun Choudhary and his aide, Chowkidar, Dayal Chand, in the halqa Nanga panchayat in Samba district in connection with a case related to accepting a bribe. The accused were identified as Varun Choudhary, Patwari and Dayal Chand, Chowkidar.
As per the officials, a case was registered against the accused, Patwari, based on a complaint.
It was alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for issuing Girdawari land owned by him.
“The CBI laid a trap and during the trap proceedings, the accused asked the complainant to hand over the bribe amount to his associate, a Chowkidar, Halqa Nanga, District Samba (J&K). Both the accused were apprehended during the transaction of a bribe of Rs 9,000.”
