Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 6: “If credible work will be done in a satisfactory manner, the Cultural department of Jammu & Kashmir will definitely help. The Library and Archive wing of the Cultural Department will definitely be useful for IIMC students to do research and come up with insightful stories. That will set the right narration in the right perspective towards the building of the nation.” Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, J&K said on the second day of the media skill workshop on ‘’Un-song hero of Jammu and Kashmir” at Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu on Saturday.
Senior writer Pursottam Dadhichi said time has come that we should not forget the contribution of unsung heroes in the making of the nation. Youth has to learn how to think right and also practice the rightful-thinking to be the saviours of the nation. He said that the new definition of a hero also includes those who are taking care of the environment and not polluting the mother earth. The youth who is acting in the right direction in the civil society is the real hero in present times.
Renowned author Dr. Vivek Kumar told the students to be aware of unsung traitors of the country. He elaborated that India was the ‘Vishv Guru’ on the basis of culture and tradition not only on the basis of sword.
Sqn. Ldr. Anil Sahgal said that the spinning is the regular process in any country and spies are the unsung heroes of the country. We must emphasize the unsung traitors and write the new history. Dr. Madhulika Singh, Associate Professor, Department of History, Jammu University, gave information about her research of hundred unsung heroes of J&K. She shared the challenges in identifying and compiling the stories of unsung heroes as there are no recorded documents either in the library or archives.
Earlier, Prof. Anil Kumar Saumitra, Regional Director, IIMC, Jammu welcomed the guests and gave his introductory remarks about the un-sung heroes of Jammu and Kashmir. Mariyam Alam of Digital Media and Devraj Singh of Hindi Journalism of IIMC moderated the session. During the workshop, journal 'Pavak Vimarsh' of Jonaraja Institute of Genocide & Atrocities Studies of March, 2024 also launched by the guests. The second day of the workshop was followed by the cultural evening in which renowned peace singer Seema Sahgal and Sanjit Khajuria performed.
