Unlike Cong’s antagonism, BJP accomplished much for Sikh community: Kavinder
4/7/2024 10:59:50 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 7: It is anybody’s guess that Congress has caused much pain to the Sikhs and contrary to this antagonism of the oldest political party against the marshal community, the BJP has done so much for the brave community in just eight years of its rule which will be written in the history in golden words.
This was stated by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta while addressing a meeting of Sikh community leaders at Nanak Nagar here today. On the occasion, Rekha Mahajan, District President, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, President BJP Minority Morcha, J&K, and In-charge Party’s ‘Sikh Sampark’ programme; Advocate Jasmeet Kour Pandey and Bharat Bhushan Vice Chairman Jammu Cantonment were also present.
Kavinder Gupta said that BJP has a voluminous account of steps it has taken for the welfare of valiant Sikh community in the country. He said that PM Narendra Modi out of his sheer affection towards Sikh community has given nod for the opening of Kartarpur Corridor, a historical step indeed and the near to heart demand of all the Sikhs worldwide. He said that PM Modi inaugurated the trans-border corridor that allows Indian pilgrims visa-free access to Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan’s Narowal district, where Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, spent the last 18 years of his life.
Kavinder also mentioned the move by the BJP Government to celebrate Bal Diwas in the memory of Chhote Sahibzaade– Zorawar Singh (9) and Fateh Singh (7), who were bricked alive on the orders of Mughal Commander Wazir Khan of Sirhind after they had refused to convert to Islam and had instead chosen death. He said that Congress never gave a serious thought to these demands of Sikh community rather it exploited the community on one pretext or the other.
The former deputy Chief Minister said that the Modi Government had rescued hundreds of Sikhs from Taliban ruled Afghanistan who were living under stressful conditions in a country far away from India.
He also discussed the instance wherein the Ministers of BJP Government shifted the Holy Guru Granth Sahib from the trouble-torn country giving full honour and with traditional decorum. He said that BJP’s principle Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas is the nutshell and people of all shades and hues should consider this before making a choice between parties.
Criticizing Congress for playing with lives of people of every community, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa held the Congress Party responsible for surfacing of various terrorist groups in the country. “The Congress doctrine is sheerly responsible for the partition of Hindustan on the religious lines, due to which, about 10 lakh people were killed. He also accused the Congress Party of the murders of Sikhs during 1984 riots.
Rekha Mahajan, District President, highlighted the transformative schemes implemented by the Modi government for the betterment of the people. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusive development, she outlined various initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social welfare across the nation. She underscored the significant impact of schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in enhancing the quality of life for millions of citizens.
Among those who were present include Narinder Gupta, Pushpinder Charak, Vinay Gupta, Daljeet Singh, Surjeet Singh, Surjeet Chopra, Harpal Singh Bali and Sartaj Singh.
