Govt Degree College Darhal celebrates Earth Day

DARHAL, Apr 23: GDC Darhal commemorated Earth Day with a special event organized jointly by the college’s IQAC and NSS wings.
The event featured speeches from prominent faculty members, including Dr. Ghulam Abbas, Dr. M Saleem Wani (IQAC coordinator), Dr. Taseem Ahmed, Dr. Mohd Akhlaq (NSS coordinator), and Dr. Anzaar Ahmed.
In their remarks, the speakers highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and the need for collective action to protect the planet. They urged students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and to become advocates for environmental protection.
The event also included a tree plantation drive, where students and faculty members planted saplings on the college campus.
The drive aimed to raise awareness about the importance of afforestation and to contribute to the college’s greening efforts.
“Earth Day is a reminder of our responsibility to safeguard our planet for future generations,” said Dr. Mohd Saleem Wani. “We must all strive to make a positive impact on the environment, both individually and collectively.” “The students of GDC Darhal are passionate about environmental issues, and we are proud to support their efforts to promote sustainability,” added Dr. Mohd Akhlaq.
The Earth Day event was chaired by Dr Ghulam Abbas whereas Dr Taseem and Dr Anzar also evaluated the performances of the participants as judges. The programme was a success, inspiring students and faculty members to take action to protect the environment. The college remains committed to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability throughout the community.
