Jammu, May 14: Congress candidate for the Ladakh Lok Sabha Tsering Namgyal seat faced embarrassment today as none of his senior party colleagues from Kargil accompanied him when he reached the district for campaigning.
Tsering Namgyal along with some of his supporters reached Kargil today to mobilize support in this part of Ladakh where all political and religious organizations have offered unconditional support to the National Conference leader Haji Hanifa Jaan, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election as an Independent candidate. After reaching Kargil Tsering Namgyal reached the headquarters of the Islamia School to seek support of this important institute. “I met Sheikh Nazir Sahib head of the Islamia School to seek his support”, Tsering Namgyal told media persons. Interestingly none of the senior Congress leaders from Kargil were seen with Tserin Congress candidate for Ladakh Lok Sabha seat Tsering Namgyal seat faced embarrassment.
All political and religious organizations have offered unconditional support to NC leader Haji Hanifa Jaan.

Namgyal visited different localities of Kargil town but senior party leaders avoided him during the campaigning.

Important to mention here that Congress is a strong force in Kargil. During the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil elections in October 2023, Congress had won eight seats.
Earlier last week Kargil unit of the Congress had issued a warning to the high command against forcing them to support the party candidate on the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat.
Leaders of the Kargil unit of Congress made it clear to the high command that they would not support the official party candidate Tsering Namgyal in the Ladakh Lok Sabha.
Instead of supporting the official party candidate, the entire Kargil unit of the party would support Independent candidate Haji Hanifa Jan who is supported by all political and religious organizations of Kargil. |
