Apni Party deputation calls on RRCM
5/16/2024 10:01:54 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 16: A deputation of the Apni Party today called on the Relief Commissioner (Migrant), Arvind Karwani to discuss various issues confronted by the migrant Kashmiri Pandits.
As per a press release, the deputation of the Party consisted of Additional General Secretary, Arun Kumar Chibber, senior leader, M.K. Yogi, General Secretary Youth Wing / Spokesperson, Abhay Bakaya, Senior Vice President District Jammu, Vaibhav Mattoo, Devansh Sharma, Vishal Jyutshi, Pran Ji pandita, Chand Ji Bhatt, Chand Ji Kher, G.l. Pandita, Virender Sathoo, Ashok Bahwno, Bansi Lal Bhat, Pradyuman Koul, Sunita Raina, Rattan Lal Bhat, Hira Lal Bhat, Rajesh Labroo, and others.
During the meeting with the Commissioner Relief (M), the deputation highlighted the glaring difficulties which were faced by the displaced voters on May 13, 2024 during the Srinagar Parliamentary seat.
In these above cited polls, the deputation informed that around 1000 displaced Kashmiri Pandits returned back home without casting their votes and hence, the basic purpose of exercising their right was denied because their names were missing from the voter lists even as they had voter identity cards.
The deputation said that the officials' negligence and incompetence impacted the election process which needs to be worked out so that such things are avoided in coming polls.
"The voting percent could have been higher, but due to the incompetence of the officials concerned, the voter's names were not listed in the voter lists, and hence, they were denied permission to cast their votes," they added.
After listening to the deputation patiently, the Relief Commissioner assured that he would ensure that such things should not happen in the elections.
He informed the deputation that the officials have been directed to add the left out voters in the voting lists, and ensure that the displaced voters could cast their votes.
