JU organizes Lecture on "Competencies in Library and Information Science"

JAMMU, May 28: The Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS) at the University of Jammu, under the leadership of Prof Sangita Gupta, hosted a lecture by Professor Shabir Ahmad Ganaie, DLIS, University of Kashmir.
Prof Ganaie, an expert in LIS, provided an insightful and thought-provoking lecture highlighting the critical skills and competencies essential for modern librarians and information professionals to effectively manage and disseminate information in today's digital age. The lecture addressed several key aspects, highlighting seven major types of competencies necessary for effective library services. It emphasized the importance of continuous research to innovate and enhance library offerings, as well as the ability to analyze data and trends in the field.
Prof. Sangita Gupta, Head of DLIS at the University of Jammu, thanked Prof. Ganaie for his enlightening lecture, noting that his insights are extremely valuable to both students and faculty.
The lecture was attended by faculty members Dr. Meghna, Dr. Pramod, Dr. Bindu. Ashwin and Dr. Reenu Arti), scholars, students and professionals from the LIS community. The lecture ended with a formal vote of thanks by Ashwin Kushwaha.
