Heat wave may ease from tomorrow

Srinagar, May 28: Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday predicted a "slight relief" from the present heat wave for four days from May 30 over Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT office said there is a possibility of "slight relief from heat wave/hot & dry weather conditions during May 30-31 & June 1-2 over most parts of Kashmir division & few hilly areas of Jammu division".
However, there will be no respite in heat waves/hot & dry weather conditions over plains of the Jammu division during the next 7 days. Jammu recorded the maximum temperature at 43.6 ?C on Tuesday and it was 4.5 ?C above normal during this period of the season.
On May 28-29 the weather generally will remain dry with the possibility of thundershower activity at isolated places can't be ruled out.
The weather will turn partly to generally cloudy with light rain/thunder at isolated places during May 30 to June 2 while the weather will remain generally dry from June 3 to June 5 and possibility of light rain, and thunder at isolated places during June 6 and 7.
The MeT office predicted another spell of heat wave very likely over Jammu and Kashmir from June 3 to 5.
The MeT also forecast a brief spell of rain/thundershower over a few parts of Kupwara, Handwara, Bandipora, higher reaches of Ganderbal, Kangan, Sonamarg and a few hilly pockets of Kukernag & adjoining areas during the day on Tuesday.
The hot and humid weather conditions continued to prevail over Kashmir valley on Tuesday disrupting normal activities.
Srinagar recorded the maximum temperature at 32.6 ?C and it was 6.5 ?C above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national Highway had a maximum temperature of 8.1 ?C above normal of 25.3 ?C on Tuesday, while the tourist spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded at 27.8 ?C and it was 5.0 ?C above normal for the valley of shepherds.
Gulmarg experienced the maximum temperature at 22.4 ?C and it was 5.2 ?C above normal for the famous ski resort of north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Tuesday.
The maximum temperature at the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara was recorded 30.9 ?C and the picnic spot of Kokernag 31.0 ?C.
The minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday across the Kashmir valley was hovering 2 to 4?C above normal, the MeT office said.
