GURDASPUR, May 28: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, today termed the ten years of the Modi Government as a golden period in Indian history.
Addressing a press conference in Gurdaspur, Kavinder highlighted several significant achievements and commitments fulfilled by the government since the 2014 and 2019 parliamentary polls.
Kavinder emphasized the historic abrogation of Article 370, which he said has integrated Jammu and Kashmir more closely with the rest of India, fostering peace, stability, and development in the region. He noted the successful commencement of the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, fulfilling a long-standing promise and aspiration of millions of Indians.
Kavinder also highlighted the initiatives taken by the Modi Government for the welafre of Punjabis including opening of the Kartarpur Corridor, which has allowed Sikh pilgrims easy access to one of their holiest sites, promoting religious harmony and bilateral relations. He highlighted that more than 23 crore farmers benefitted from the PM-KISAN scheme in Punjab, with total DBT transfers worth over Rs. 4,750 crore. He said that Modi government has also given a fertiliser subsidy of over Rs. 55,000 crore to more than 62 lakh farmers in Punjab in the last six years (up to January 2024). Besides this, inauguration of 29 National Highway projects, establishment of India's first Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) in Punjab, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, 100-bed PGI Satellite Centre at Ferozepur, declaration of 26th December as the Veer Bal Diwas, Under the PRASHAD scheme, 46 projects at Rs. 1629.17 crore have been sanctioned, including the development of Karuna Sagar Valmiki Sthal at Amritsar and Chamkaur Sahib at Rupar, etc.
He asserted that the last ten years under the Modi government have witnessed a paradigm shift in Punjab's development trajectory. The multifaceted approach encompassing infrastructural, agricultural, and cultural initiatives reflects a commitment to holistic growth.
Kavinder appealed to the people of Punjab to support and vote for the Modi Government's vision of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) in ensuing Lok Sabha polls. He emphasized the importance of voting for a secular party like the BJP to ensure that all communities can live together in peace and harmony.
"I urge the people of Punjab to extend overwhelming support to BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. Your vote will be a step towards a more prosperous and united India where every citizen, irrespective of their background, can thrive together," Gupta stated.
He reiterated the Modi Government's dedication to serving all sections of society and urged the public to participate actively in building a stronger, more unified India.
