5/28/2024 10:41:13 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 28: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit held a strong demonstration against the increasing power cuts and decreasing water supply in the scorching heat and took a strong jibe at the current administration and reminded them of the promise of 24 hours unopposed power supply in exchange for smart and electronic meters.
The Shiv Sainiks gathered under the leadership of the party’s state chief Manish Sahni held a strong demonstration in Lower Roop Nagar area of Jammu holding placards written “,”Bijalee Pani de na Sake Jo ..Vo Sarkar Nikami Hai” , “Fulfill the promise of 24 hours power supply”.
Sahni said that the people are upset with the announcement of 4 and 8 hours power cut by the electricity department during this scorching heat.
He said that the people of Jammu-Kashmir, which is rich in immense water resources and hydro-electric projects, are facing power cuts and decreasing water supply. He said that while installing electronic and smart meters, consumers were promised 24-hour power supply. If there is a slight delay in paying the bill, the power connection is cut off but no accountability is fixed if the power supply is cut for hours. Sahni said that unscheduled power cuts are being done for hours in villages and remote areas.
Farmers are facing severe shortage of water for farming. Sahni said that it is unfortunate that due to the absence of a people’s elected government in Jammu and Kashmir, the bureaucracy is bent on arbitrariness and dictatorship.
Sahni has appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to issue instructions to maintain power and water supply in the scorching heat and ensure 24-hour power supply. On this occasion Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi,Vice president Balwant Singh, Secretary Rajesh Handa,Teetu Sehgal, Kamlesh chib , Leela Devi , Nirmala Kour and many others were present.
