IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu formally takes over the new campus building at Bantalab

JAMMU, May 29: After a long wait of around 26 years ever since IGNOU operations started in J&K in the year 1998 on government invitation, IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu is all set to start its operations from the new campus in Jammu at Rajinder Vihar Housing Colony, Phase-I, Bantalab, Jammu. The state of the art building has a built-up area of around 6800 sq.ft. built on a parcel of land measuring 14.5 kanals which was inaugurated by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on 7th of February, 2024 virtually.
The new campus building has a high tech Electric, Electronic, CCTV, Solar, Intercom, EPABX, Fire Alarm, Fire fighting Downcomer systems with passenger lift, DG Set and Panels. The entire construction work has been carried out by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The building was today formally handed over by the CPWD authorities to IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu. Dr. Jai Prakash Verma, Regional Director, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Assistant Regional Director, Dr. Asha Upadhyay, Assistant Regional Director, S. Tejinder Pal Singh, Deputy Registrar, Rajesh Mohan, Assistant Registrar, Lakhbir Singh and Naveen Dutta were present from the IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu and J.L. Meena, AE(Civil), Vikash, JE (Civil), Palash Choudhary, JE (Electrical) from the CPWD, Satwari Jammu were also present on the occasion. The building, along with all the inventories, was taken over by the Regional Centre Jammu. Regional Director IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu, Dr. Jai Prakash Verma expressed his happiness on the formal takeover of the new campus and informed that Regional Centre Jammu will soon start its operations from the new campus once the shifting process is over.
