GDC Bishnah concludes Environment Day observance

JAMMU, June 6: NSS wing in collaboration with the Department of Botany and EVS organised series of event on environment Day with a theme "Land Restoration, desertification and drought resilience" under the patronage of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal of the college. As per the schedule on 3rd June an inauguration was conducted by making Rangoli on "bicycle day". Through this artefact the students inspired people to use bicycle as it is a symbol of health and clean nature. On 5th June, students paid a visit to SKUAST for enlightened themselves with innovation in agriculture and how organic farming can protect the environment from any sort of pollution. During the visit students have enhanced knowledge in variegated domains like Pisciculture, decompose pits, water conservation and soil testing. The last day on 6th June, plantation drive was carried out. Dr. Shallu Sambyal, Principal of the college, along with the faculty member planted plant saplings to give aesthetic look to college campus. After that, Principal, Staff and students have also administrated a pledge on thematic essence of Day. While addressing the gathering Principal Mam expressed happiness over the observance of the eve and in her concluding remarks, she threw significant light on the importance of celebration of environmental Day. She lauded the students for their enthusiasm and blessed them. In the end vote of thanks was also extended to all faculty members, participants and NSS volunteers. The entire programme of Environmental day was executed by Prof. Sania Hamid HOD Botany, Prof. Nisha Bhagat HOD EVS and Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS, PO.
