Early Times Report

Jammu, June 6: Notwithstanding tall claims of the BJP about the overwhelming support the party and its supported candidates received during the just concluded Lok Sabha elections, the vote share of the party has sharply declined in the Parliamentary elections.
The biggest worry for BJP is the sharp decline in the party’s vote share from 46.2 percent to 24.36 percent which is a warning signal for the party.
As the party has set up a target of 50 Plus seats in the coming assembly elections, the failure of the BJP to retain its vote share is a clear indication that achieving this target looks difficult rather impossible.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha, the BJP had emerged as the biggest political force in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir with 46.2 % vote shares.
BJP had created history with the vote share of the party has increased from 32.4 per

8 In 2014 vote share of NC was 19.11 percent which slipped to 7.88 percent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The party’s share jumped to 22.30 percent in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.
8 Vote share of PDP was 20.5 percent in the year 2014 which dropped to 2.39 percent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. During this election, PDP’s vote share improved to 8.48 percent.
8 In 2014, the vote share of Congress was 22.9 percent which jumped to 28.66 percent in the 2019 elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections Congress’s vote share declined to 19.38 percent.
ent in the year 2014 to 46.2 percent in the 2019 Parliamentary elections.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had secured 18.61 percent votes- which increased to 46.2 percent in 2019 elections.
Earlier in the 2014 Assembly elections in J&K, BJP had emerged as the single largest party by securing 23 percent votes, followed by PDP with 22.7 percent, NC with 20.8 percent, and Congress with 18 percent.
Although Congress has improved in position in two seats of Jammu province, its vote share also declined from 28.66 percent in the year 2019 elections to 19.38 percent in the 2024 elections.
The reason for declining this vote share is the party’s decision to support the National Conference on three Parliamentary segments of Kashmir Valley.
In the year 2009, Congress had secured 24.67 percent of the votes followed by 22.9 percent in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
