JAMMU, June 6: This day is an occasion that is dedicated to protect and preserve our environment being celebrated on 5th of June as a global reminder of our responsibility to preserve protect and restore ecosystem, this day was established in 1972. World environment day celebrated at Himmat Learning Field Higher Secondary School Chhanni Himmat Jammu. Prof RD Sharma, Former Vice Chancellor Jammu and Noida University, was the chief guest, Prof Sarla Kohli Vice President VKMI & Former principal GGM Science College Presided over the function. S/Shri Ashok Gupta, Founder Chairman Trustee Sarv Uthan trust and Vice President Bharat Vikas Parishad, KS Samyal Retired Superintending Engineer and Vice President Trikuta Nagar Development Council, Anju Bansal Swar Kokila Former President Bharat Vikas Parishad Shivalik, Abhinandan Jain, Director Mahaveer physiotherapy and yoga centre and Yashpal Sharma Director skill development and financial solutions were Guest of Honours.
Welcome address was presented by Chander Mohan Sharma, General Secretary VKMI and Chairman HLF Higher Secondary School. Chief guest was felicitated by Narendra Wadera President Evening Walkers Association Trikuta Nagar sector 2 and JPS Jamwal, Ex Chief Manager SBI The main lecture was delivered on the subject by Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain President VK MI and Chairman IYA, explained about the theme of the World Environment Day 2024 as "Land Restoration Desertification and Drought Resilience" with the slogan 'Our Land our future' with the help of this theme we can emphasize the urgency to protect our environment and put pressure on the direction to restore land and combat is desertfication. We mark this significant occasion. It is imperative to reflect on the critical need for environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
How we can save over the environment from pollution Monica Khajuria Nutrisist and LM VKMI explained to reduce the burning of fossil fuels, as these shows release large amounts of carbon dioxide, which causes air pollution. Main factors to help to protect environment from pollution as Reduce Reuse and Recycle, Energy Conservation,Proper use of water, Use long lasting light bulb, it was described by Prof Kohli. Adopt eco friendly and sustainable Lifestyle, say no to single use plastic and segregate waste. The chief guest of the function, Prof Sharma, said it is important to plant trees but more important to sustain them from decay. A tree was planted on the occasion with the reciting of Concerning song on conservation of environment by Bansal. Indu Sharma Principal HLF Higher Secondary School presented a vote of thanks to participants and dignitaries for spairing their valuable time for this Nobel cause.
