REASI, June 6: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan alongwith Addl.District Development Commissioner Sukhdev Singh Samyal,Office bearers of Hotel & Restaurant Association,Katra comprising of its president Rakesh Wazir, Chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, Sr. Vice president Virender Kesar and others visited the places of tourist interest around Katra including Nau-Devian, Dhansar, Siad-Baba etc. and discussed in detail the measures to divert the visiting more than one crore pilgrims to these places.
Mahajan during tour while speaking to these Tourism Stake holders explained that these tourist spots have got the potential to attract majority of Vaishnodevi pilgrims and a joint strategy comprising of Tourism Stake holders, District Administration, Shrine Board & Department of Tourism is required to be made including making of packages,providing of best quality transport and good service,wide publicity of these places and providing other facilities to these pilgrims is the need of the hour so that people visiting Vaishnodevi ji may visit these places as well and stay of Yatries in the Union Territory may increase and may add on to our economy and the recent holding of environment day at Chinkah just recently and making it a festival was a step in this direction.
Wazir besides appreciating the efforts of Deputy Commissioner requested him for giving more publicity to these places besides increasing the facilities over there.
He further said that though yatra at Shiv-Khori, Nav-Devian, Dhansar has already crossed the figure of 20 to 25 lac yatries per year but these places has got the potential of increasing this figure to many folds.
He further requested him that water of Siar Baba is diverted to many villages and as a result the flow of water fall is decreased and suggested him that though the water may be lifted but it be lifted from the point where water lands after falling from height so that beauty of the water fall may not decrease.
Shyam Kesar and Virender Kesar requested him for inviting top media & film personalities from all over India to these places in joint collaboration with association for giving these places more publicity. They also requested for early start of Shiv Khori ropeway,Helicopter service between Katra-Shiv Khori-Katra,Re- start of live Arti from Shiv Khori, publicity of these places in trains and Railway Stations of Katra and Jammu,opening of Tourism Department's view point/Refreshment room at Siar Baba which is already existing but is not operational etc.
Mahajan listened the office bearers of HRAK minutely and assured them that sympathetic consideration to each & every point discussed is the joint tour would be made and assured them that every effort would be made to increase the stay of Yatries by developing of these places and by creating awareness with regard to these places so that whole Reasi District may become the hub of Tourism activities.
